Wirksworth Heritage Centre
The commercial review of Wirksworth Heritage Centre extended far beyond financial considerations, encompassing every aspect of its operations. Nestled in a town known for its artistic vibrancy and strong community spirit and set against the stunning backdrop of the Peak District, the centre should be a thriving cultural hub. Yet, its potential remained largely untapped.

My review addressed fundamental issues, from strategic and operational leadership to branding, public engagement, and overall visibility. The existing (and former) team had missed key opportunities for growth. If funding can be secured, my report outlines an innovative business model to reposition the centre for success.

I am also deeply grateful to fellow museum professionals who generously contributed their expertise to this project.

With the right investment and the removal of existing barriers, the charity has the potential to significantly expand its audience and revenue streams.

Update (January 2025): Regrettably, the Board of Trustees have been instructed to close the site, a decision now covered in the media. However, should a new operator and funder step forward, they will find a well-researched alternative business plan ready for implementation. It would be a great loss if this cultural gem were to disappear permanently.
